Neil Lennon

Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.

Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.

Eddie Howe has held advanced talks with the Parkhead club over being appointed as their next permanent manager. As exclusively revealed by Record Sport earlier on Thursday, the former Bournemouth boss this week knocked back the chance to return to the Premier League as he waited on an offer from Glasgow.

That included being offered the Sheffield United vacancy and a deal from another unnamed club who still have a manager in place.But it looks increasingly likely that Celtic will be his next destination having been out of football since leaving the Cherries in August 2020.Celtic have been without a full-time gaffer since Neil Lennon resigned back in February, with coach John Kennedy steering the ship on an interim basis.
