Eddie Hearn’s two reasons behind ditching Sky for record-breaking boxing deal with DAZN

Matchroom chief is ending his exclusive partnership with Sky when his contract expires and will instead ink a five-year deal worth more than £100m with streaming giant DAZN.But WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte are not part of the deal and can negotiate their own contract with Sky if they wish to stay with the broadcaster.Hearn will begin promoting events with DAZN in the UK in July, having already staged events for the channel in the US, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Uzbekistan.Most of Matchroom’s British fighters, including Katie Taylor, Conor Benn and Callum Smith will now be added to DAZN’s schedule.Hearn will stage two final fights on Sky before his deal with DAZN begins on 1 July, with the promoter.
