EastEnders undergoes huge format shake-up due to summer's sporting tournaments

EastEnders will be moving to BBC iPlayer this summer, in a bid to avoid clashes with major sporting events.The soap will debut on the streaming service on June 27 until mid-August to avoid clashes with Wimbledon.All of EastEnders' week-long episodes will stream at 6am on Monday mornings.Audiences will be able to watch the soap whenever or wherever it suits them on BBC iPlayer, or alternatively they can tune in as the episodes air on BBC One.Set to be at the heart of the drama this summer is the Mitchell family, with Phil causing chaos.

The hardman is set to wonder if his time is up after making a lethal enemy in prison.Sam is back in Albert Square and appears to be settling in nicely – but time will reveal her true intentions, with big consequences.Ben is set to face his demons as his behaviour is set to spiral out of control in the wake of his attack, despite Kathy's support.Mitch Baker is due to bump into his estranged brother, Avery, and two sons, Finlay and Felix, in the Square.
