EastEnders star Nicola Cowper's murderer boyfriend dies in prison amid life sentence

Former EastEnders actress Nicola Cowper's killer boyfriend has died. The star's former lover - Tony McCann - died on Monday amid serving a minimum of 21 years at high-security HMP Gartree in Leics for killing a man with a steak knife over a stolen phone.

Nicola - famed famed for playing Cindy Beale's sister Gina Williams in the BBC soap on and off between 1998-2014 - shares 21-year-old twin daughters Tilly and Dora with Tony.

A family source told The Sun Tony had been diagnosed with liver and kidney cancer around six months ago. It is thought that Tony was taken to an external hospice for his final days.
