EastEnders fans could be about to see Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) become landlord of the Queen Vic once again. With Danny Dyer preparing to bow out from the BBC soap as current landlord Mick Carter at the end of this year, it leaves the question of who will take over the Walford boozer. The Queen Victoria has been a landmark watering hole for the residents of Albert Square since 1985, and has withstood the many dramas of its owners from fights to fires, this public house has seen it all.

Ian Beale is EastEnders' longest-main character, first appearing in the soap in 1985. With a tumultuous history from romantic affairs to breakdowns, Adam Woodyatt's character is no doubt part of the furniture.Ian shocked fans last year when he made an exit from the show in late January 2022.However the soap is reportedly in talks with Adam to make a return to Albert Square.Could this deal also include a signing of the Square’s landmark Queen Victoria pub?

Bookmakers William Hill certainly think it’s possible, pricing Ian Beale at 6-1. Leading contenders for the Queen Vic’s licence currently sit as Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), both priced at 9-4.Phil assumed landlordship on and off between 1991 until 2013, during which time saw the Queen Vic Fire Week in 2010, which led to Peggy Mitchell’s (Barbara Windsors) exit.Kat Slater had a brief joint stint with Mitchell from 2010 until 2013.

After an affair with Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman), Kat left the Queen Vic with her husband Alfie Moon (Shane Ritchie) left at the helm.Another former landlady in the market is the infamous Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), tipped 7-2.
