EastEnders have cut down their episodes to 20 minutes ahead of the soap's return. The popular BBC soap was forced to cancel filming during the coronavirus pandemic due to lockdown.It is now set to return to filming, but social distancing guidelines have resulted in production becoming "more complex".The soap will go back to broadcasting four times a week, but the airtime of each episode has been slashed from half an hour to just 20 mins.The BBC show's executive producer Jon Sen said: "Resuming production is incredibly exciting and challenging in equal measure."Since we postponed filming we've been working non-stop trialling techniques, filming methods and new ways of working so that we can return to screens four times a week – as EastEnders.
