Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has published an updated version of the introduction to Universal Credit ‘easy read’ online guide to include the change in the rules allowing people with a Severe Disability Premium (SDP) to now claim the benefit.Ministers lifted a two-year ban on people who claim Severe Disability Premiums moving to Universal Credit on January 27, 2021, which means people on legacy benefits can now move on to it, if they want to.However, some claimants will also trigger the move, known as ‘managed migration’, without choosing to, or possibly even realising, by declaring a ‘change of circumstances’ to the DWP - this could include a change in living status with a partner or moving to a new address.The UK Government’s.
