Dusty Hill dead: ZZ Top bassist dies in his sleep after pulling out of tour with injury

ZZ Top's bassist and founding member Dusty Hill has died at the age of 72. The rocker's bandmates Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard confirmed the sad news in a statement shared with fans this evening.

The pair revealed that Dusty, who was behind hits including Gimme All Your Lovin' and Tush, died in his sleep at his home in Houston. "We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. "We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the 'Top'. "We will forever be connected to that 'Blues Shuffle in C.'" "You will be missed greatly, amigo," they added.
