Devastated family 'concerned' over care of young dad who died at Strangeways

Patrick “Paddy” Ward passed away at HMP Manchester on August 18 last year. The 28-year-old, from Clarksfield, had been jailed three months prior to his death following an incident involving a stolen van.

Despite being sentenced to four years and four months, he was determined to turn his life around upon his release, his devastated family said.

Area coroner for Manchester City, Zak Golombeck, held a pre-inquest review into Paddy’s death on Monday (July 19). The full inquest, to be held in front of a jury, is expected to take place in early 2022.
