A man who strangled his neighbour with a tie and dumped his body in a river has been jailed for life - 13 years after committing the murder.
David Roustoby, 45, lured John David Clarke into his room, plied him with drinks and drugged him with diazepam before strangling him with a tie.
He then called his ex-girlfriend Sharron Roustoby, 50, to help dispose of the body. The couple drove Mr Clarke's lifeless body to Towthorpe and dumped it in the River Foss in York where it was discovered by a retired doctor out walking his dog on April 18, 2007.
Two days later Ms Roustoby reported the red Ford Fiesta stolen, and it was later found a few miles from her home address where it had been deliberately set on fire.
