Dan Walker and Louise Minchin 'break lifetime rule' as they reunite on BBC Breakfast

Dan Walker had an emotional reunion with his former BBC Breakfast co-host Louise Minchin.He was hosting his final ever Breakfast show on Tuesday morning (May 17) alongside co-host Sally Nugent, but his last programme didn't come without a surprise visit from his good pal Louise.Dan and Louise used to present BBC Breakfast for years together before she finally left the broadcaster in September after almost 20 years with the broadcaster.Sally had already teased "one or two surprises" for Dan during the show, and she was excited to reveal Louise was waiting for Dan in the studio on Tuesday.She said: "There is one very special person though, that you have shared the sofa with more than anyone else over the last few years, and she's here.

Morning, Louise Minchin!"Louise then ran onto set before sharing an affectionate hug with a cheering Dan.She asked: "Are we going to break the rule of a lifetime?", to which Dan answered: "Let's hug it out."An excited Louise cried out: "Oh my gosh!" as they embraced on air and Dan said she looked "gorgeous".Louise later explained: "I say break the habit of a lifetime because all the years we sat next to eachother, we never touched."Sally asked: "Not even like a little finger..." as Louise branded it "super awkward".Dan said it was lovely to see her again before Louise told him it was an "absolute pleasure" to greet him in the studio again - although she admitted it was "emotional" for her.

He admitted it was a "massive decision" for him to leave the BBC as he loves working there so much but he couldn't pass up Channel 5's offer.In a video he said: "Hello, Dan Walker here.
