Cristiano Ronaldo’s expression spoke more than words ever could during his difficult night against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

That was the verdict from Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, who was less than pleased in the BT Sport studio. Atletico got off to a flyer when Joao Felix brilliantly converted Renan Lodi’s cross with a diving header at the Wanda Metropolitano.And the Red Devils looked shellshocked, unable to string any sort of rhythm together as the Spaniards overran them at every opportunity.It meant United did not have a touch in their opponent’s box in the first half - a feat that has not happened since 2005 in the Champions League.For Ronaldo, it was another tough evening who made his feelings clear because of his isolation when he threw his hands up in the air when one moment to cross to him did not come.

In the BT Sport studio, Ferdinand could see his frustrations as the Portuguese superstar failed to add to his 25-goal tally against Atletico.
