Cristiano Ronaldo has paid tribute to Manchester United caretaker boss Michael Carrick following his decision to leave the club after their appointment of Ralf Rangnick.
The 40-year-old former England international insisted that he made up his mind about moving on before talking to Rangnick, with the German coach then asking him to stay.
Carrick won the Premier League on five occasions during his 12 seasons at the club between 2006 and 2018, making a total of 464 appearances before becoming a part of the coaching staff under Jose Mourinho.
After overseeing wins over both Villarreal and Arsenal as well as a draw with Chelsea, Carrick has been hailed by a man he played alongside on 127 occasions for the club.Ronaldo wrote on social media:.
