Nicola Sturgeon announced that Scotland will move ‘beyond level zero’ next week as the country’s recovery from the Covid pandemic continues.
The majority of legal Covid restrictions will be lifted from Monday - with nightclubs being given the green light to reopen and larger scale events returning for the first time in around 17 months.
But a number of measures will remain in place as health officials attempt to minimise the number of infections and deaths from the virus.Scots will still be legally required to wear face coverings while contact tracing measures will remain in place.
Although August 9 has been dubbed 'freedom day' the First Minister stopped short of using the term as she announced changes earlier today.
