A retired couple suffered 70 hours of flight delays after both their outbound and return flights to and from Crete were cancelled - with the added insult of their suitcases being left behind at Manchester airport.
John Dawson, 72, and his wife Ann, 65 who have two grown up children and five grandchildren were looking forward to two weeks in the sun in Crete.
But the pair found their holiday got off to a shaky start on September 2 when their 18.35pm TUI flight from Manchester airport was cancelled.
The pair were taken to a hotel in Stockport, where they say they were given no information. Read more: Driver covered in blood and baby showered with glass after bricks hurled at trains in year of violence Mr Dawson, a retired insurance agent, says the following day (September 3) they were told they would be picked up by coach to travel to Gatwick airport at 1pm, but the coach did not arrive until 3pm, despite them being "kicked out of the hotel as there was a wedding on." The couple, from Sheffield, who were waiting outside with everyone else and had not eaten since breakfast, said there was no toilet on board the coach.
