Coronation Street legend Charles Lawson blasted soap bosses for forcing him to sport an '80s moustache he hated'. The actor told fans in a Twitter Q&A he could not stand character Jim McDonald's famous facial hair.But he said it was written into his Corrie contract that he had to keep it as it became Jim's trademark.Charles, 61, said he turned up for an interview for the part in ITV soap in 1989 sporting the 'tache which he had grown for another TV programme.The Irish actor did not know back then if he would get the job – let alone become one of the show's most popular characters.But Corrie producers liked his moustache and insisted he wore it in all his scenes for the next 10 years.Charles revealed his hair hell when he tweeted he had been.
