The soap is working with The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, launched in memory of goth Sophie Lancaster who was murdered in a park for the way she looked, on the story to explore social intolerance and prejudice.
In scenes airing tonight on the ITV1 soap young couple Seb and Nina will be violently assaulted similar to what happened to Sophie in 2007 when she and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were set upon.
