Coronavirus is leading to a crisis for the UK's pets with more than 40 cats and dogs a day being abandoned during the lockdown.
The RSPCA has urged people not to abandon their pets, as many rescue centres are currently furloughing much of their staff, meaning facilities are stretched to the limit.
A spokeswoman for the RSPCA told Daily Star Online: "We're seeing an average of 40 reports of abandoned animals each day which is very concerning given the current lockdown. "This compares to around 66 abandonments a day for the same period last year when there were no restrictions in place. "While the figure during lockdown is lower, everything is currently lower as we're only able to deal with emergencies in order to adhere to the Government
