There have been an estimated 27,900 new cases of coronavirus reported in England per day in the last week, official statistics have revealed.
The results of the Office for National Statistics weekly infection survey have revealed that the spread of the disease as government and local authorities across the country scramble to implement the new tier system to contain cases.
