Beloved Barlow dog Eccles died tonight after 14 years on Coronation Street. Emotional Corrie viewers were left sobbing as they watched Eccles being put down in devastating scenes that would have horrified late owners Blanche Hunt and Deidre Barlow.
The Border Terrier, who first appeared in January 2006, survived drowning in a canal, being run over by a car and eating poisoned sausages.
But a vet revealed the much-loved pooch had an inoperable tumour that had spread to most of her organs and had been suffering in pain.
It may have been due to grief, but upset Corrie fans blamed Ken for 'neglecting' his dog by leaving her to move into a retirement village.
