Coronation Street hint at Roy and Evelyn romance as cafe owner gatecrashes date

A blossoming romance for Roy Cropper and Evelyn Plummer could be on the cards when the cafe owner unwittingly gatecrashes a date on Coronation Street.

Over the last few months, Evelyn has been getting to know her old flame Arthur. Next week, Roy hears that the pair are going off for a walk along the Rochdale canal and ends up inviting himself along.

But Roy's attendance as a third wheel upsets Evelyn, played by Maureen Lipman. Roy (David Neilson) realises that Evelyn isn't happy with him and apologises for making her upset.

He also realises that Evelyn is clearly insecure about dating while at her age and feels she is too old for romance. However, Roy assures her that age isn't a barrier for love.
