Conor McGregor's rise from apprentice plumber to one of the biggest sports stars in the world has not always been plain sailing.

The Irishman was collecting unemployment cheques in Dublin before he made his UFC debut against Marcus Brimage in 2013. But he quickly acquired fame - and notoriety - rarely seen in the sport of mixed martial arts.
