Stephen Sondheim has sadly passed away at the age of 91. The famed composer and lyricist, who was behind some of Broadway’s most beloved and celebrated shows, died early Friday, November 26, at his home in Roxbury, Conn.
The news was confirmed by his lawyer and friend, F. Richard Pappas, via The New York Times. Sondheim‘s passing was described as “sudden”, and Mr.
Pappas explained that just the day before, he had celebrated Thanksgiving with a dinner with friends. He is best known for his work for West Side Story, Gypsy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company and A Little Night Music, among many other Broadway musical works.
