Personal Independence Payment (PIP) after data released by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) indicated that while the number of claimants across the UK had fallen, there was a rise of 2.7 per cent in Scotland.
By the end of April 2021 there were 288,135 Scots claiming PIP - an increase of 6,347 since January, 2021 adding to an overall UK total of 2.7m claimants.
The benefit is aimed at helping people who need help with daily living tasks or getting around outside the home as a result of a long-term illness, disability or mental health condition.
