COME Dine With Me is the home of dodgy dinners, wacky cooks and kitchen meltdowns. But Channel 4 will later this year dish up a far more professional second serving — featuring trained chefs and restaurateurs.

The twist on the latest series will see the culinary whizzes take on other kitchens, in a bid to be crowned the best independent restaurant in town.

Voiceover king Dave Lamb will oversee proceedings as restaurateurs dine in their rivals’ gaff for the show, Come Dine With Me: The Professionals.

Producer Tim Carter, from MultiStory Media, said: “For 15 glorious years, we’ve been celebrating the culinary creations and epic fails that pour forth from the nation’s home kitchens. "Now, as they recover from the battering of the last couple of years, Come Dine With Me cheers on Britain’s restaurants with its customary love note to gastronomic endeavour.” More than 2,000 episodes of the much-loved original have aired, alongside the spin-off series, Couples Come Dine With Me.
