Chelsea fans with his five forgettable years at the club finally coming to an end.Drinkwater joined the Blues in a £35million transfer from Leicester City in 2017 but has rarely been seen in a Chelsea shirt since.
The midfielder has made just 23 appearances for the club, spending time on loan at Burnley, Aston Villa, Reading and Turkish side Kasimpasa.The five-year contract he signed upon arrival will expire on June 30, allowing the 32-year-old to find a new club.
With his departure now on the horizon, Drinkwater has taken to Instagram to share his thoughts on a frustrating time with Chelsea."My time at @chelseafc has come to an end… actually feels really strange writing this,” he wrote. “Me, the club and fans are hugely disappointed with the outcome there is no doubt about that."Injuries, how I have been treated, mistakes I have made, issues off the pitch, lack of game time… the list of excuses could be endless but I would not and can not change what’s happened.
