Thomas Tuchel admitted he was unhappy with Callum Hudson-Odoi’s display after ruthlessly substituting the substitute in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw at Southampton.
With Chelsea trailing at half-time Hudson-Odoi entered the fray in attack with Tammy Abraham replaced. Instead of turning to Olivier Giroud as a direct replacement Hudson-Odoi was called upon.
However, less than 30 minutes later - with the scores level after Mason Mount’s equaliser from the penalty spot - Hudson-Odoi found himself brutally subbed off, with Hakim Ziyech on for the final quarter of an hour.
There was no sign of any injury to the England international, who, frustrated, kicked a water bottle as he made his way into the stands.
