Charlize Theron ‘heartbroken’ to be replaced by younger actress for Mad Max prequel: ‘It’s tough to swallow’

She appeared in the movie alongside Tom Hardy, but as plans for a prequel are under way, it’s been reported that Charlize won’t be returning to reprise her role.

Confirming so to The Hollywood Reporter, Charlize discussed the idea of a younger actress taking over her character and admitted the news had been a ‘tough one to swallow’.

It was reported that Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller had wanted to use de-ageing technology on Charlize for the prequel, but later decided against it and to recast Furiosa instead.Charlize said of Miller’s decision to replace her: ‘Listen, I fully respect George… he’s a master and I wish him nothing but the best.‘Yeah, it’s a little heartbreaking for sure.
