In the weeks following the sad passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III has received praise from both the British public and royal commentators for his dedicated plans for his reign.

And royal correspondent Katie Nicholl - author of forthcoming book The New Royals - has exclusively told OK! that she believes we will finally see the best of our new monarch, referring to him as a man "ahead of his time".

She tells us: "He had become better understood, and that’s coloured how we see him now. You cannot continually beat a man for the mistakes he made 25 years ago.The public has moved on, and our attitude to Charles and Camilla has too.

Katie adds, "He was seen as meddling and even a bit bonkers, but now we recognise he was a man very much ahead of his time." With the world seemingly having moved on from a place that occasionally saw the former Prince the brunt of jokes regarding his affair with Camilla, as well as his fascination with both architecture and the environment, it appears as though the public are now viewing him as a visionary, as opposed to someone 'stuck in the past'. "He’s a very considered and considerate man, and a caring and compassionate person who is determined to do the best job as King," Katie explains. "The past hasn’t been an easy path but he’s now with the woman he loves and they are clearly very happy together." Royal commentator and journalist Duncan Larcombe is in agreement, telling us that despite his deep grief for his mother, Charles will now want to show the world what he is capable of.
