Champagne-guzzling swimmers forced volunteers to close a Devon pool only two days after it opened for the season after leaving broken glass behind.

Volunteers have taken to social media to share their anger from the mess left behind at Brixham’s popular Shoalstone Pool. On wrote: “It would be wise not to make too many assumptions. “As the glass appears to be from champagne bottles it seems unlikely that it was kids.” There is a sign warning people not to take glass near the pool.

The open-air seawater pool needed to be drained before it could be cleaned and refilled. The pool has reopened again today after the afternoon's high tide refilled it.
