Certain people on legacy benefits migrating to Universal Credit will not need another assessment

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) recently announced that Harrow in London is the fifth location selected to go through the managed migration process from legacy benefits to Universal Credit.

The transfer process is also underway for small groups of people in Bolton, Falmouth, Medway and Truro - there are no locations in Scotland currently selected and no indication of when that will start.Some 2.6 million people on older-style benefits including Tax Credits, Housing Benefit.

Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) and income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) will be sent letters over the next two years informing them they must make a claim for Universal Credit within three months from the date on the letter.Managed migration is now underway in Harrow, Bolton, Falmouth, Medway and Truro - there are no locations in Scotland currently selected and no indication of when that will start.

In the latest update on GOV.UK about the managed migration progress, DWP has shared useful information for those in England who are moving from one of the six legacy benefits to Universal Credit about Work Capability Assessments (WCA).
