Airdrieonians have announced the signing of Celtic youngster Ben Wylie, who says he was sold on the success of three former Hoops men at the club last season. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder joins Rhys McCabe's Diamonds in time for Saturday's League One opener at Peterhead and follows a long line of Parkhead kids to make the move to Monklands.Last season Airdrie took midfielder Kerr McInroy, defender Brody Paterson and striker Jon Afolobi on loan from Celtic and the trio's success at New Broomfield helped convince Wylie this is the right move for him.He told airdriefc.com: “Brody Paterson, Jon Afolabi and Kerr McInroy were all here last season and they’ve all went on to do good things off coming to Airdrie.“I have a hunger to win, and I want to win every week.

The manager brought it across to me that they [Airdrie] play nice football."Wylie has featured for the Hoops' B team and spent a time on loan at hometown side Ballymen United.

He has also represented Northern Ireland at U15, U17, U19 and U21 levels.Player-boss McCabe is delighted to get Wylie on board and expects more new signings to follow. He said: "Ben is a talented midfielder who loves to get forward and join the attack."We’re delighted to bring him in, and we look forward to him further strengthening our attacking options.”Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
