Carluke student puts her pedal to the metal in pursuit of career in the motorsports industry

Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.A Carluke student is accelerating towards a career in the motorsports industry by helping maintain a racing car.Lucy Arnold, 19, is in the third year of her studies in Light Vehicle Mechanics at New College Lanarkshire.The teenager has her eyes on the road and is hoping to steer herself into the traditionally male dominated field of racing.Her ultimate dream is to get behind the wheel of a F1 car and race competitively, and she has already ensured her career doesn’t get left on the starting grid by volunteering at Knockhill.The former Carluke High pupil returned to the Fife circuit at the weekend where she helped ensure driver Brent Bowie’s car ran.
