A memorial bench in tribute to the late Captain Sir Tom Moore and other victims of coronavirus has been left damaged by heartless vandals.

A plaque in honour of the war veteran was smashed up, as well as a wreath and flowers ripped apart and thrown on the floor. Staffordshire city residents have condemned the heartless act, which was discovered in Fenton Park on Wednesday afternoon.The plaque read: "In memory of the People of Stoke-on-trent, Front Line Workers & Volunteers who died during the 2020-21 Covid-19 pandemic."
