Camilla paid a touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth II during the vigil in Edinburgh, and chose a specific piece of jewellery for the occasion. The new Queen Consort decided to wear a diamond thistle brooch on her black coatdress as she joined other members of the Royal Family at the cathedral, where members of the public later came to see Queen Elizabeth's coffin.

The glittering piece had previously been given to her by her late mother-in-law as a gift. The brooch had reportedly belonged to the Queen's mother who often used to wear it on her hat during formal visits.

When the Queen's mother died in 2002, the item was inherited by Her Majesty who decided to gift it to Camilla. It is believed the Queen Consort first wore the Brooch back in 2015, although it's unclear when exactly the shiny item was presented to her.The accessory itself is not worn often by Camilla, which is why the gesture was all the more noticeable this week.

The Queen's coffin has been lying in state at St Giles' Cathedral following a vigil for Her Majesty on Monday evening. King Charles III, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne and Prince Edward all stood guard around their mother's coffin and were joined for the emotional event by Camilla, Queen Consort and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex who sat opposite them.
