Caitlyn Marie Jenner (born William Bruce Jenner; October 28, 1949) is an American television personality and retired Olympic gold medal–winning decathlete.
Jenner played college football for the Graceland Yellowjackets before incurring a knee injury that required surgery. Convinced by Olympic decathlete Jack Parker's coach, L. D. Weldon, to try the decathlon, Jenner won the men's decathlon event at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, setting a third successive world record and gaining fame as "an all-American hero".
Given the unofficial title of "world's greatest athlete", Jenner established a career in television, film, writing, auto racing, business, and as a Playgirl cover model.
Caitlyn Jenner has shunned her reality TV roots and her Kardashian daughters from her first political advert. The TV star announced she was running for California Governor as she faces off current California Governor Gavin Newsom in the recall election.
Her first advert completely ignored her brush with reality TV on the family show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. There was no mention of her famous daughters Kylie Jenner and Kendall who she raised with her ex-wife and Kardashian momager Kris.
In fact, the athlete has dropped her second name completely from her campaign slogan which reads: "Caitlyn for California." Instead Caitlyn, formerly known as Bruce, shone a torch on her Olympic glory which goes back to when she first won the 1976
