The borough's infection rate is four times higher than the English average and has risen by 70 percent in the last week, driven by the spread of the more transmissible Delta variant of coronavirus.
More than 100,000 people in Bury have been given their first dose of the vaccine - with a 85,000 having had both jabs. But public health teams see the vaccination as one of their main tools in stopping the spread of the virus.
