Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.

In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Manchester United will be required to pay Sporting Lisbon £4.2million if Bruno Fernandes wins the PFA Player of the Season award.Fernandes has been a revelation since he arrived at Old Trafford last season and is the short-price favourite to win the end-of-term gong.The 26-year-old has scored 22 goals and laid on 12 assists so far this campaign, making him the Premier League's top player for goal involvements.And while United have already had a sound return on their initial £46.6million investment, they could be about to pay out once again thanks to a number of add-ons in Fernandes' contract.

The Times have revealed the midfielder's old club, Sporting, will be owed another £4.2million should Fernandes scoop the PFA Player of the Season.
