Warren Glover was murdered after he sent "vile" texts when drunk to his ex-girlfriend Melissa Stubbs. The 33-year-old was found unconscious in St Helens at around 10.15pm on June 13 last year.
He died three weeks later in hospital. Melissa, 30, her brother Aaron Stubbs, 30, their friend Stephen Strutt, 39, and Strutt's brother-in-law Peter Walker, 31, were accused of the killing.
They denied arming themselves with weapons to attack Mr Glover - with Aaron insisting he just intended to "confront" him and expected an apology.
