A Met Office forecaster added: “The period to June 22 has spells of rain or showers in the North-West, with the South having lengthy sunny periods, but some rain possible.“Temperatures will be close to average, perhaps slightly below in the North-West.“Towards the end of the period, the weather is likely to become more unsettled again.”The 800-mile wide Storm Alex is set to sweep into Britain today (FRIDAY), whipping up 28ft high waves and battering the North with 60mph gales and thundery downpours.It gathered pace in the Atlantic days after battering south Florida and Bermuda.After striking the northwest of the UK, it will hit the south with 45 to 55mph winds.Its gusts will bring a wind chill to temperatures, making it feel far colder.More rain bursts for the nation are predicted for the next fortnight, disappointing millions of Brits desperate for hot spells after a damp Jubilee weekend.June is so far 1.1C cooler than average in central England.The month’s rainfall is also already up 25% on normal rates across England and Wales, with 24mm falling according to Met Office figures.Forecasts estimate highs of only 16C to 21C for at least the next fortnight.Met Office forecaster Rebekah Sherwin said about the weekend’s.
