UK citizens who are not EU residents will be made to pay the same fee as other travellers starting from 2022. A new travel authorisation system, European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), will oversee security credentials and travel fees starting within the next year.EITAS is a visa waiver programme in which travellers are required to fill an online form and pay €7 (£5.89) to enter the 26 countries in the Schengen Area.EITAS' online form will be available via an official website and/or an app for mobile phones.
The Schengen Area is made up of 26 countries and includes popular holiday destinations to UK tourists like Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Portugal.
