The Blues fan, 56, eventually became a community campaigner who was renowned for his work combating homelessness and knife crime in the Midlands.
After his death, Birmingham City FC said: “The Club are saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong Bluenose, Barrington Patterson.
All of our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time. May you rest in peace, Baz.” And just like Baz, there are many other reformed hooligans who went on to do good.
