The Brit Awards has courted controversy by paying tribute to convicted killer Phil Spector. The producer, who worked with the Beatles and Tina Turner, is included in an online list of “creative talents who were sadly lost to us” but “whose legacy in shaping our musical heritage and popular culture will always endure”.
The ceremony’s In Memoriam page says “The BRIT Awards pay tribute” to the stars featured. The Brit Awards list also includes brief eulogies to the likes of Bill Withers, Eddie Van Halen, and Kenny Rogers, who all died since the last Brit awards.
