Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire, was first diagnosed with Lesch-Nyhan syndrome (LNS) in January 2020. It is an incredibly rare disorder caused by a deficiency of the enzyme hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT) and mainly affects males.
