A toddler was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a car near Rochdale. Police, paramedics and an air ambulance were called to Whitworth at around 5.30pm yesterday (October 20).

It came following reports of a collision between a Nissan Juke and a child on Cowm Park Way South. Lancashire Constabulary confirmed a two-year-old boy was taken to hospital in a 'serious condition'.

The road was closed was several hours for investigation works, Lancs Live reports. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing into the incident.
