Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Borna Barisic has reportedly shunned the opportunity of a move to Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa as he's told insiders he wants to remain at Ibrox.
The Rangers defender was a key part of Gerrard's side which won last season's Scottish Premiership and had been identified as a potential £8million January target for Villa.
But, according to a report in the Daily Star, Barisic is said to have been impressed with Giovanni van Bronckhorst's first few weeks in charge at Rangers.
And rather than following his former boss to the Premier League, the Croatian international is keen to hang around and help Rangers defend their league crown.
