Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Boris Johnson to face Commons vote on call for free school meals guarantee

Labour will force a Commons vote on giving children the full value of free school meals during the holidays. In a move pile pressure on the Government, the party will demand a guarantee on Monday that children will receive the full value of free school meals for the rest of the year, including over the holidays.

Shadow Education Secretary Kate Green said families were under “intolerable strain” during lockdown as she also set out demands for a date when all eligible children would have the right equipment for remote learning.

Ms Green also called for Education Secretary Gavin Williamson to quit, saying “patience has completely run out” after free school meals chaos.
