Bereaved families have slammed Boris Johnson after discovering he made a private visit to the National Covid Memorial Wall – ignoring their invitation for him to meet grieving families there in person.
The Prime Minister was spotted on the private solo visit to the memorial wall on Tuesday night. It comes a week after campaigners issued a public invitation for him to meet with the grieving families behind the moving tribute on the Thames embankment, opposite the Houses of Parliament.
Matt Fowler, co-founder of Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice, who drew the first of more than 150,000 hearts on the vast memorial wall, said it is “deeply hurtful” to learn the PM made the visit “under the cover of darkness” in order to dodge families.
