Boris Johnson 's plan to build a tunnel connecting Scotland and Northern Ireland has been abandoned, according to reports. The Tory Prime Minister was keen to have a road connection with the island of Ireland and Great Britain, however it looks as if the idea is dead in the water.
The idea has never been widely received with Scotland's Transport Minister Michael Matheson say it could cost around £33 billion - £18bn more than some of the estimates and that it would never be built in the PM's lifetime.
While Johnson's former chief adviser Dominic Cummings said: “The Prime Minister's only agenda is to buy more trains, buy more buses, have more bikes and build the world's most stupid tunnel to Ireland.” The news comes after the PM commissioned.
