The Prime Minister made the comments as he was urged by one Labour Mayor to 'reset the relationship' between Downing Street and regional leaders.
Mr Johnson was challenged on the issue in the House of Commons by the metro mayor for South Yorkshire, Labour's Dan Jarvis, following the election of several new mayors at last week's local elections.
